Indie Gaming Eve To Bring Together Lahore Game Developers

Published on

Indie Gaming Eve is bringing together Lahore’s game development community for an evening built around a question that sits at the center of every indie developer’s journey, what it actually takes to turn an idea into a playable game. The event addresses a gap that has persisted across Pakistan’s small but growing indie scene, where most developers remain largely self-taught, learning through online tutorials and forums rather than structured mentorship, making community-driven gatherings like this one a genuinely important substitute for the more formal development pathways still uncommon in the country.

The evening centers on playtesting locally built games, giving developers direct, real-time feedback from players rather than relying solely on their own internal testing or assumptions about what will land with an audience. This kind of grassroots playtesting matters considerably for a scene where few Pakistani game developers have access to dedicated quality assurance resources, making informal but genuine player feedback one of the more accessible ways to catch design issues before a game reaches a wider public release.

Developer stories form another core component of the evening, with indie developers sharing their own journeys from concept and team-building through to publishing, Steam, marketing, and the ongoing challenge of finding an audience. Given that Pakistan’s active game development community remains small compared to regional counterparts such as India, hearing directly from developers who have already navigated the specific hurdles of publishing on platforms like Steam offers considerably more practical value than generic industry advice disconnected from the country’s specific market realities.

Attendees will also get a closer look at IGDA Pakistan, the local chapter of the International Game Developers Association working to represent Pakistani developers domestically and internationally, alongside global game-development communities, GDoC, and CEGA’s Cohort 3, which continues accepting applications for its structured incubation program. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, 23 September, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM in Lahore, and is explicitly framed as open to developers, designers, artists, animators, students, storytellers, audio creators, and anyone with a general interest in games, extending an invitation considerably broader than a typical technical meetup restricted to practicing developers alone.
