The Shahjehan Syed Karim Incubation Center at the Institute of Business Management in Karachi has opened applications for Cohort 6, inviting founders, innovators, students, professionals, educators and entrepreneurs to join its next incubation programme. The call carries the message Shift Up, Think Beyond Limits, and it is addressed to anyone with a startup, an innovative final year project idea or a business that is ready to scale. Applications close on 15 November 2026, and interested candidates can apply through the application link or through the incubation page of the institute.
Selected participants will be incubated at the center and will work on turning their ideas into real businesses with the help of mentorship, training, networking, ecosystem access and resource mobilization opportunities. The open invitation to students and educators alongside professionals and entrepreneurs is notable, since many university incubators focus only on registered companies. By accepting final year project ideas and early concepts, the center gives students a route to continue their work after graduation instead of leaving it as an academic submission, while educators and professionals who have an idea outside their regular jobs can use the programme to test it.
The center is named after the late Shahjehan Syed Karim, the founder president of the Institute of Business Management, and it was inaugurated in November 2020 to provide strategic and financial direction to startups emerging from the institute. Over its first four cohorts, it graduated 24 startups, and its fifth cohort graduated in July 2026. Earlier cohorts have followed a six month programme with mentorship from industry experts, co-working space, skill development workshops and access to funding and investment opportunities, and applicants have been selected through a final pitch day before a panel of judges drawn from industry and academia. The center has also reported growing interest from outside Karachi, with startups travelling from Lahore and Khairpur for the final pitching round of the previous cohort.
For founders in Karachi and beyond, Cohort 6 offers a structured way to move from an idea to a tested business inside a university setting, with access to mentors and a peer group at a similar stage. Candidates are advised to prepare a clear description of their idea, the problem it solves and the progress made so far, since selection depends on the pitch. With the deadline set for 15 November, applicants have a little more than a month to complete their submissions.
