Five startups have been selected to join Cohort 5 of the National Incubation Center Islamabad Acceleration Program, following a competitive selection process that involved evaluations, pitches and rigorous assessments. The selected ventures are DeafTawk, EMRChains, GeoAirCon, Mapalytics and Shadiyana. Each brings a distinct vision, ambitious ideas and solutions to real world challenges, with the potential to grow and scale. The announcement follows the cohort’s orientation, and it gives the wider startup community a first look at the companies that will take part in the program over the coming months.
The cohort spans a broad range of sectors. DeafTawk is working on redefining sign language access, addressing communication needs for the deaf community. EMRChains aims to deliver smarter healthcare through automation powered by artificial intelligence, targeting the administrative and data challenges that burden medical providers. GeoAirCon is developing geothermal climate control for a sustainable future, offering an alternative approach to heating and cooling buildings. Mapalytics is digitizing land, buildings and infrastructure, creating digital records of the physical world. Shadiyana rounds out the group by making wedding planning effortless for families who often manage a long list of vendors and arrangements. The mix of accessibility, healthcare, climate, geospatial technology and consumer services reflects the variety of problems Pakistani founders are now trying to solve.
As part of the acceleration program, these founders will have the opportunity to make their business models stronger, refine their strategies, build valuable connections and prepare their ventures for the next phase of growth. Acceleration differs from early incubation in that it works with companies that already have a product or customers, so the focus falls on sharpening what exists and moving it toward scale. For the selected teams, the program offers a structured setting in which to test assumptions, make meaningful progress and take their ventures closer to their next milestones.
The center also addressed founders who took part in the selection process but were not chosen this time, urging them to keep building and noting that one opportunity does not define the potential of what they are creating. Building a company is a continuing effort, and the center expressed its intention to be part of what the Cohort 5 founders build next. The National Incubation Center Islamabad operates with the backing of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Tech Destination Pakistan and Ignite, the National Technology Fund, and attention will now turn to how far the five ventures progress as the acceleration program gets underway.
