The National Incubation Center Faisalabad hosted an orientation ceremony for its Momentum Cohort, marking the beginning of a new chapter for founders as they embark on their journey to scale their ventures. The ceremony formally welcomed the cohort into the program and gave the founders an opportunity to meet one another and the business community that surrounds the center. Held under the message that the journey to build, grow and scale starts here, the event set the tone for the months of work ahead.
The ceremony brought together industry and business leaders from across Faisalabad. Among them were Arif Ahsan Malik, President of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Dr. Saniah Rashid, Vice President of the Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who attended along with the chamber’s Senior Vice President. Raja Junaid Bin Mujtaba, Head of Innovations at Fauji Fertilizer Company, and Israr Ahmed, Innovation Lead at Fauji Fertilizer Company, also took part, engaging with the startup community and highlighting opportunities for collaboration between industry and startups. The presence of both chamber leaders and corporate innovation heads gave founders direct access to people who understand local markets and who can open doors to customers, pilots and further introductions.
The program began with an introduction to the incubation program run by the National Incubation Center Faisalabad, which outlined what the founders can expect from their time in the cohort and the support available to them. This was followed by an Elevator Pitch Challenge, in which founders presented their ideas and innovative solutions to the industry leaders in attendance. Pitching to experienced business figures at the very start of a program gives early stage teams a chance to practice describing their ventures clearly and concisely, and it exposes them to candid reactions from people who evaluate real business propositions. For the guests, the challenge offered a look at the range of ventures now emerging from the center, including those linked to agriculture and textile technology that reflect the strengths of the region.
The emphasis on collaboration between established industry and young startups reflects a theme that runs through the center’s work. Large companies such as Fauji Fertilizer Company hold operational experience and market reach that startups often lack, while startups bring fresh approaches that established firms may want to test. Bringing both sides into the same room at the outset of the cohort creates room for those relationships to form early. The National Incubation Center Faisalabad operates with the backing of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and Ignite, the National Technology Fund. With the orientation complete and the Momentum Cohort officially underway, attention now turns to how the founders use the program to grow their ventures.
