Buscaro Introduces Smart Bus Service in Pakistan to Fill SWVL Gap and Improve Urban Transport

Published on

Public transport across Pakistan’s largest cities has long faced challenges ranging from overcrowded buses to unsafe rickshaws and costly ride-hailing alternatives. When SWVL exited the country, it left commuters without an affordable and structured option for daily travel. To bridge this gap, a new local startup, Buscaro, has emerged with a tech-driven mass transit solution designed to make commuting safer, more reliable, and more affordable.

Founded by Maha Shahzad, Buscaro began modestly with a single bus and an idea sketched out in her living room. Today, it has evolved into one of Pakistan’s fastest-growing mass transit platforms, processing more than 900,000 bookings every month. The company has built a system that assigns dedicated routes for schools and organizations, ensuring predictability and convenience for passengers. Its digital infrastructure includes live tracking features for parents and commuters, transparent financial reporting for organizations, and operational oversight for administrators, making it a holistic solution for daily transport.

Buscaro’s model has gained particular traction among parents and women commuters who prioritize safety and reliability. Many families view it as a trustworthy option for school travel. Parent Abdul Majid explained, “My two children use Buscaro for their school commute. The service is reliable and makes our morning routine much easier. I feel a sense of security about my children’s safety.” Commuter Iqra Shabbir also praised the service, highlighting timely arrivals and comfortable rides as key advantages.

With $2 million in recent funding, Buscaro is now focused on scaling its operations in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, with plans to extend into tier-2 cities and underserved industrial hubs. The company is also exploring collaborations with government institutions to modernize outdated public transport systems, potentially reshaping how millions of Pakistanis commute daily.

By positioning itself as a homegrown alternative to international services like SWVL, Buscaro has turned into a lifeline for Pakistan’s urban commuters. Its blend of structured routes, technology integration, and passenger safety directly addresses long-standing issues in the transport sector. As the platform expands, it offers a vision of daily travel that is not only affordable but also secure and dependable, giving Pakistan’s commuters a long-awaited solution to everyday mobility challenges.
