Iqra University Students Called to Join Innovista Startup League for Cash Prize and Mentorship

Published on

Iqra University students now have an opportunity to bring their startup ideas to life through the Innovista Startup League, a campus-wide initiative launched by IU CORE in partnership with Innovista. This competition is designed to discover bold, early-stage entrepreneurial ideas from within the student body and offers participants a platform to pitch, receive mentorship, and potentially win a cash prize of PKR 30,000. The initiative seeks to foster a culture of innovation, bridging academic learning with real-world impact.

The Innovista Startup League encourages participation from student founders working on ideas in emerging technology verticals such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, FinTech, HealthTech, AgriTech, SaaS, and cybersecurity. By highlighting these key sectors, the league aims to steer students toward market-driven, tech-enabled solutions that address local and global challenges.

To participate, teams must consist of at least two co-founders and include one member who fulfills a technical or CTO-equivalent role, ensuring each startup has both vision and execution capacity. The competition is open for registration until July 25, 2025, and interested students can apply online through a dedicated submission form. Shortlisted teams will have the opportunity to present their ideas to industry experts and academic mentors for feedback and evaluation.

IU CORE and Innovista are jointly facilitating this effort to nurture student entrepreneurship through structured exposure, idea validation, and startup building. The selected startups will benefit not only from financial incentives but also from the credibility and experience gained through participation in a competitive, innovation-focused environment. This format is especially useful for students with minimal previous exposure to startup ecosystems, allowing them to build teams, understand the mechanics of pitching, and engage directly with technology-driven business concepts.

With the growing relevance of student-led innovation in Pakistan, programs like the Innovista Startup League are becoming vital touchpoints for aspiring entrepreneurs. They connect university talent to broader startup networks, providing the structure and support needed to transition campus ideas into scalable ventures. As universities increasingly become hubs for experimentation and startup formation, initiatives such as this serve to encourage early-stage entrepreneurs and embed innovation culture into academic settings.

This program is part of a growing trend of on-campus entrepreneurship being supported through collaborations between university innovation cells and startup ecosystem stakeholders. By creating an accessible launchpad for student entrepreneurs, IU CORE and Innovista aim to drive idea-to-execution pathways among youth, contributing meaningfully to the country’s early-stage startup momentum.
