HAS Handicrafts, a startup incubated at National Incubation Center Faisalabad, has secured one million Pakistani rupees in the Circular Economy category at the Wafi Tameer Awards. The recognition highlights the startup’s contribution to sustainable practices and the circular economy through its handicraft based solutions. National Incubation Center Faisalabad congratulated the HAS Handicrafts team on the achievement and wished them continued success.
The award came at the 13th Tameer Awards, hosted by Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited for young entrepreneurs, which drew more than 700 applications this year against more than 450 the year before. The awards recognise winners and runners-up in six categories, and in the Circular Economy category HAS Handicrafts was named winner. The enterprise turns textile waste and discarded materials into sustainable fashion and lifestyle products, an approach that keeps materials in use and reduces the amount of cloth that ends up in landfill. Zakir Hussain received the award for the startup.
A circular economy model treats waste as a resource, and a handicraft business is well placed to apply it, since artisans have long reused fabric and other materials to create new items. By designing products around waste, HAS Handicrafts links environmental benefit with the skills of craft production, and the prize money gives the startup capital to expand its operations.
National Incubation Center Faisalabad operates with the backing of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and Ignite, the National Technology Fund. HAS Handicrafts is the latest startup from the center to win recognition in a national competition, following Zarai Baramdaat at Zarzaraat 2026 and Eila Foods at the Pakistan International Agro Show. As the startup continues to develop its products, the award offers both funding and public recognition for its work in sustainable fashion.
