National Incubation Center Islamabad is hosting an Investor Education Workshop aimed squarely at business leaders, high net worth individuals, and corporate executives looking to navigate Pakistan’s evolving startup landscape, treating early-stage venture investing as a distinct discipline that traditional investors cannot simply approach with the same playbook they use for physical assets or established businesses. The workshop’s framing acknowledges directly that evaluating disruptive business models, understanding risk-adjusted valuations, and backing high-potential founders require a different analytical lens than the one most traditional industrialists and family offices have built their careers around.
The session features Faisal Aftab, founder and general partner of Zayn VC, alongside Kamil Aziz, bringing genuinely rare credibility to the room given Aftab’s track record building Pakistan’s leading tech fund, whose portfolio includes NayaPay, Haball, and PostEx, three companies that have each drawn Forbes recognition and collectively helped Aftab’s funds raise more than 500 million dollars in debt and equity across their portfolio companies. Aftab’s public profile extends beyond pure venture investing into his role as a Shark on Pakistan’s edition of Shark Tank, giving him a mainstream public familiarity that few Pakistani venture capitalists carry into a room of traditional industrialists and corporate executives who may not otherwise engage closely with the startup ecosystem.
The workshop is structured around three key themes, starting with the VC perspective on how institutional investors evaluate potential and risk, a framework that traditional investors accustomed to tangible collateral and predictable cash flows often find genuinely counterintuitive when first exposed to early-stage evaluation methods. Investment readiness forms the second theme, addressing what specifically makes a startup attractive for venture funding from the investor’s side of the table, complementing the kind of investor-readiness curriculum NIC Islamabad has run for founders through its own Deal Ready series. Scaling for growth rounds out the themes, drawing lessons from the ground on navigating the path from seed to scale, giving attendees a practitioner’s view of what happens after a check is written rather than stopping at the initial investment decision.
The workshop specifically targets traditional industrialists, high net worth individuals, corporate mergers and acquisitions leaders, family offices, and aspiring angel investors, a deliberate attempt to widen Pakistan’s pool of active early-stage investors beyond the relatively small circle of existing venture capital firms. Scheduled for 23 September 2026 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at National Incubation Center Islamabad, the session forms part of the center’s broader Road to 29 September programming, and interested attendees can request an invitation through this registration link, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis until capacity is reached. The workshop is supported by Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Tech Destination Pakistan, and Ignite National Technology Fund.
