Team NIC Hyderabad met Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali, Vice Chancellor of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, to discuss renewing the partnership between the incubation center and the university and to move it into what NICH described as its next phase. The meeting covered three practical areas, the renewal itself, outreach for upcoming NIC cohorts, and a joint calendar of activities for MUET’s students and faculty, which suggests the two institutions are looking to turn an existing agreement into a more regular program of work.
The planned collaboration includes workshops, capacity-building sessions, entrepreneurship events, and learning sessions hosted at both NIC Hyderabad and the MUET campus. Splitting the activities between the two locations matters because it lowers the barrier for students who may not otherwise travel to an incubation center, while also bringing founders and the center’s team onto the campus where engineering students and faculty already spend their time. The stated goal is to give students and faculty more opportunities to engage with founders, explore entrepreneurship, and build practical skills.
Outreach for upcoming cohorts is a significant part of the arrangement. MUET is one of the leading engineering universities in Sindh, and a closer relationship gives NIC Hyderabad a direct channel to technically trained students and faculty researchers who may have ideas worth developing into ventures but limited awareness of the support available to them. For the university, the partnership offers a route for student projects and research to reach an incubation environment with mentors, resources, and connections to the broader startup ecosystem.
NIC Hyderabad said the aim is to make the partnership a more active platform for talent, ideas, and entrepreneurial potential, connecting MUET’s community with the people and resources of the startup ecosystem. The center operates with backing from the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, Ignite National Technology Fund, PTCL, LMKT, and Tech Destination Pakistan, and the renewal fits a wider pattern among regional incubators of anchoring their work in nearby universities, where steady access to students and faculty helps build the pipeline of founders for future cohorts.
