NSTP Concludes 27th Selection Board With 19 Companies Presenting Business Models

Published on

NSTP has concluded its 27th Selection Board, with more than fifty startups and SMEs applying for consideration, of which twenty five were shortlisted to present before a panel comprising experts from industry, academia, and NSTP itself. The scale of this process, spanning fifty applicants down to a shortlist of twenty five, reflects the continued competitive interest in NSTP’s incubation programme after twenty seven previous rounds of selection.

A total of nineteen companies ultimately presented their business models during the selection process, indicating that not all twenty five shortlisted ventures proceeded to the final presentation stage, whether due to scheduling constraints, applicant withdrawal, or other factors. Each presenting company had the opportunity to articulate its business model directly to the evaluation panel, giving founders a structured platform to make their case for inclusion within NSTP’s ecosystem.

The Selection Board was chaired by Director NSTP Engineer Amer Sheikh, with participating judges evaluating the shortlisted ventures and their potential for growth within the NSTP ecosystem. This evaluation framework, focused specifically on growth potential within NSTP’s particular ecosystem rather than generic business viability alone, suggests the panel considered how well each venture’s specific needs and trajectory would align with the resources and support NSTP is positioned to provide.

The involvement of experts from both industry and academia in the evaluation panel reflects NSTP’s continued approach of drawing on multiple perspectives when assessing potential startups, combining practical commercial judgment with the more research and technical oriented perspective academic evaluators bring to the process. This dual perspective can be particularly valuable for evaluating deep tech or research linked ventures where technical merit and commercial potential both require careful assessment.

Through such selection processes, NSTP continues to identify and support promising ventures with the potential to innovate, grow, and contribute to Pakistan’s technology ecosystem. The conclusion of the 27th Selection Board adds to NSTP’s long running track record of running structured, competitive intake processes, reflecting the incubator’s continued role as an established and consistently operating entry point for startups and SMEs seeking incubation support within Pakistan’s broader technology and innovation landscape.
