Pakistan Launches Prime Minister’s Cloud Program To Support Startups

Published on

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has initiated the Prime Minister’s Cloud Program for Startups, engaging cloud and technology experts to strengthen the nation’s cloud ecosystem and support early-stage technology ventures. The initiative, implemented through Ignite National Technology Fund, is part of a wider digital transformation strategy that aims to accelerate cloud adoption, optimize infrastructure, and facilitate scalable growth for startups across Pakistan. Officials said the program is designed to reduce early-stage operational costs while promoting efficient use of cloud services and building a sustainable ecosystem aligned with local business needs.

The one-year program is structured to help startups adopt, optimize, and scale operations using cloud infrastructure. Under a tiered cloud reimbursement model, participating startups will receive financial support for infrastructure costs alongside technical enablement and guidance from cloud service providers. Experts engaged under the initiative will evaluate startups, provide strategic advice on architecture design, cost optimization, and cloud adoption, and facilitate direct collaboration with providers to ensure practical implementation. Authorities emphasized that this guidance is aimed at equipping startups with the tools and knowledge to compete in regional and global markets, enhancing innovation and scalability across sectors.

Ignite officials explained that the program will actively identify high-potential startups and provide mentorship through industry professionals compensated via meeting-based honoraria. These experts are tasked with delivering informed guidance, coordinating with cloud providers, and ensuring that startups’ cloud solutions are implemented efficiently and sustainably. By bridging access to cloud technology and providing expert mentorship, the initiative aims to create an environment where Pakistani startups can grow without facing the typical infrastructure and operational barriers that constrain early-stage companies.

Program organizers highlighted that enhanced access to cloud resources will not only lower costs but also increase operational efficiency, allowing startups to focus on product development, innovation, and market expansion. The initiative is also expected to foster a culture of technology-driven entrepreneurship and build a locally relevant cloud ecosystem that aligns with Pakistan’s broader economic and digital development goals. Officials added that the program reflects the government’s commitment to creating scalable, competitive, and sustainable solutions for startups, with Ignite serving as a key platform for implementing cloud-focused initiatives. By leveraging expert guidance, financial support, and strategic collaboration, the Prime Minister’s Cloud Program seeks to position Pakistani startups for success in increasingly competitive regional and global markets.
