PSDF Visits NIC Faisalabad to Explore Skills and Entrepreneurship Collaboration

Published on

Representatives of the Punjab Skills Development Fund visited National Incubation Center Faisalabad, engaging in discussions around skills development, entrepreneurship, innovation, and opportunities to empower the next generation of founders. The visit brings together two organizations that typically operate in separate lanes within Pakistan’s broader talent and enterprise development landscape, PSDF focused on vocational and technical skills training, and NIC Faisalabad focused on startup incubation, giving both sides a chance to explore where their respective mandates might intersect more directly.

That intersection matters more than it might initially appear, since many early-stage founders coming out of incubation programs still lack specific technical or vocational skills that a structured skills development body like PSDF is specifically equipped to address, whether in areas like digital literacy, technical trades, or specialized industry skills relevant to the products startups are building. Conversely, PSDF’s own training programs could benefit from closer alignment with the kinds of ventures NIC Faisalabad is incubating, ensuring the skills being developed feed more directly into entrepreneurial and startup-relevant capacity rather than purely traditional employment pathways.

The visit reflects a broader recognition that building a more capable and connected entrepreneurial community requires bridging what have often been parallel, disconnected systems, one focused on developing employable skills and the other focused on building investable businesses, when in practice both are shaping the same pool of young people moving into Pakistan’s economy. For founders at NIC Faisalabad, a closer relationship with PSDF could translate into more accessible pathways for their teams or themselves to acquire specific technical skills needed as their ventures scale, without needing to seek that training entirely outside the incubation ecosystem.

With backing from the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication and Ignite National Technology Fund, the visit adds to NIC Faisalabad’s pattern of engaging with organizations beyond the immediate startup and investment ecosystem, recognizing that building a future-ready entrepreneurial community depends on connections across skills development, education, and enterprise support functions rather than incubation infrastructure operating in isolation.
