Woofy Launches Pakistan’s First Mobile App for Animal Rescue in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

Published on

Animal rescue in Pakistan has taken a significant technological step forward with the launch of Woofy, the country’s first dedicated mobile app designed to make reporting and responding to cases of injured, abandoned, or abused animals faster and more efficient. Following its official launch event on Sunday, Woofy is now available to the public on both iOS and Android platforms through the App Store and Google Play Store.

The app simplifies animal rescue by allowing users to report incidents within minutes. Users begin by tapping the green “Report Now” button, after which they can select the type of case—Injured, Abused, or Abandoned—from the options at the top of the screen. Detailed information such as a photo of the animal, location, and a contact number can then be provided. Additionally, users can include extra notes to give rescuers a more complete understanding of the animal’s condition or situation.

Woofy caters to both case reporters and rescuers, offering separate profiles for each. This allows seamless connection between individuals reporting cases and those providing rescue support. The app also features two separate dashboards: one that tracks the status of rescued animals and another that helps rescuers manage reports and updates. Both dashboards are updated in real time, ensuring quick response and accurate information flow.

To further facilitate animal rescue, Woofy has partnered with vets and clinics, helping rescuers locate nearby facilities, including those offering discounted services. The app is also planning to introduce dedicated transportation services for animal rescue, with vehicles designed to safely transport both rescuers and animals to nearby veterinary clinics.

Woofy has been under development for over a year and was founded by animal welfare activists Yair Salman and Talha Chaudry. The app is currently operational in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with plans to expand to additional cities across Pakistan in the future. By integrating technology with community-driven reporting, Woofy aims to create a more responsive and coordinated network for animal welfare.

The app’s launch highlights the growing intersection of technology and social impact in Pakistan. By providing a dedicated platform for animal rescue, Woofy addresses challenges faced by both volunteers and animal welfare organizations in identifying cases, coordinating responses, and ensuring animals receive timely medical attention.

With user-friendly features, real-time dashboards, and connections to veterinary support, Woofy exemplifies how mobile technology can support civic initiatives while promoting ethical treatment of animals. The app also encourages community participation, allowing ordinary citizens to report cases of neglect or abuse and contribute to animal welfare efforts in their cities.

Woofy’s introduction to Islamabad and Rawalpindi is a first step toward a national solution for animal rescue. Its founders continue to work on scaling the platform to additional regions while enhancing services, including transportation and clinic partnerships, to make rescue operations faster and more effective. Through Woofy, technology is not only transforming how rescue operations are conducted but also fostering a more compassionate approach toward animal welfare in Pakistan.
