NICAT Cohort 5 Applications Open for Pakistan’s Leading Aerospace & Deep-Tech Incubation Program

Published on

The National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies (NICAT), Pakistan’s pioneering aerospace and deep-tech innovation hub, has officially opened applications for its Cohort 5. This fully funded, one-year incubation and acceleration program is designed for startups with minimum viable products (MVPs), prototypes, or scalable solutions, offering them a platform to innovate and expand their businesses. The application deadline is set for February 15, 2025.

NICAT is an initiative supported by the Ministry of IT & Telecom through Ignite – National Technology Fund and is implemented by a consortium led by Netsol, with key partners including the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP), Air University, and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra. This strategic collaboration provides startups with unparalleled industry linkages, mentorship, and access to state-of-the-art facilities.

Since its establishment in 2022, NICAT has played a vital role in fostering Pakistan’s startup ecosystem, having incubated 58 startups to date. The program has successfully facilitated over PKR 1.2 billion in committed investments and generated more than PKR 1.75 billion in startup revenues. Additionally, NICAT has contributed to employment creation by generating approximately 2,500 jobs. Its startups have also represented Pakistan on numerous international platforms, further strengthening the country’s reputation in deep-tech and aerospace innovation.

NICAT offers its participants a dynamic coworking space within the NASTP ecosystem, granting them access to top-tier design labs, testing facilities, and industry experts. The program provides a structured growth framework that includes funding opportunities, regulatory assistance, mentorship, market access, and global exposure through media coverage. By leveraging an extensive network of startups, investors, and mentors, NICAT serves as a critical launchpad for groundbreaking solutions that address key technological challenges and drive digital transformation in Pakistan.

The incubation program welcomes applications from startups across various high-impact sectors, including Aerospace, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, Bio-Tech, Fin-Tech, Clean-Tech, Ed-Tech, Logistics, Manufacturing, Gaming, Mixed Reality, and Agriculture. Additionally, startups contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are encouraged to apply. NICAT remains committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity, actively supporting women entrepreneurs and individuals with disabilities by providing them with equal opportunities to succeed.

Highlighting the vision behind NICAT, Ayub Ghauri, President of NICAT, stated, “Our goal is to establish Pakistan’s premier hi-tech valley—a thriving ecosystem where startups, innovators, and changemakers can transform groundbreaking ideas into impactful solutions. NICAT has already made a significant impact, and with Cohort 5, we aim to further strengthen this foundation by empowering startups to reach their full potential.”

Adeel Aijaz Shaikh, CEO of Ignite, emphasized NICAT’s role in positioning Pakistan as a global hub for aerospace and deep-tech innovation. “We are proud to support NICAT in fostering transformative startups that contribute to economic growth and technological advancement. Cohort 5 presents an incredible opportunity for innovators to scale their solutions and play a role in shaping a digitally empowered, future-ready Pakistan.”

With two cohorts successfully graduated and the third and fourth currently undergoing incubation, NICAT is now preparing to welcome its fifth cohort. The program aims to unite a diverse community of entrepreneurs and visionaries who share the ambition of driving impactful innovation.

Startups looking to accelerate their journey and take advantage of this opportunity can apply for NICAT Cohort 5 before the February 15, 2025 deadline.
