Center of Excellence in Gaming and Animation is bringing Pakistan’s gaming and creative tech ecosystem to Tokyo Game Show 2026, marking the country’s presence at one of the industry’s largest global gatherings not merely as visitors but, in CEGA’s own framing, as builders. Tokyo Game Show marks its 30th anniversary this year, expanding to its longest run yet at five full days under the theme of nonstop play, and Pakistan securing a physical stand at an event of this scale and history signals a level of institutional ambition that extends well beyond simply attending as observers taking in what larger, more established gaming markets are producing.
Tokyo Game Show brings together game developers, publishers, creators, technology companies, studios, and players from across the world, drawing hundreds of thousands of attendees across its business and public days in past editions. This year’s show is expected to feature major exhibitors including Square Enix, Capcom, and SEGA and Atlus, giving CEGA’s delegation direct proximity to some of the industry’s most established global studios and publishers, an environment that offers Pakistani developers a rare benchmark against which to measure their own work and ambitions.
For CEGA, the organization has framed this as more than simple attendance at an international event, describing it instead as an opportunity to connect Pakistan’s gaming ecosystem with the global industry, showcase the talent being built domestically, and open doors to new conversations, collaborations, and possibilities. This framing reflects a broader pattern seen across Pakistan’s wider technology and startup ecosystem this year, where organizations increasingly treat international showcases as instruments for building specific commercial and creative relationships rather than opportunities for visibility alone, mirroring how incubation centers elsewhere in the country have approached events such as LEAP 2026 in Saudi Arabia.
CEGA will occupy Hall 4, Stand 04-C07, at Tokyo Game Show 2026, running from September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. The organization has framed the appearance around the idea that the global gaming industry is watching what comes next, positioning Pakistan’s presence as a deliberate signal of readiness rather than a tentative first step. The initiative continues CEGA’s broader mandate of building a national community of game developers, animators, and creative professionals, following its recent Lahore Frames Animation Meetup, and is supported by Ignite National Technology Fund and Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication.
