SEIC, in collaboration with the IBA Center of Entrepreneurial Development, Innovation and Research, is hosting a session on Prototype Scoping for its Cohort 2 founders on November 3, 2026. The session will run from 11 AM to 3 PM at the SEIC Catalyst Hall and is led by Dr. Basit, who is Director of Automation Consultancy at Mercurial Minds and Chief Operating Officer at TIAC. The session is part of the Cohort 2 programme, which SEIC runs under the theme of building what matters.
The session is designed to help founders learn how to define and scope prototypes so that their startup ideas move closer to becoming real products. For an early-stage startup, deciding what a first prototype should include, and what it should leave out, is one of the most important choices, since a prototype that is too large can drain limited time and money, while one that is too narrow may fail to test the idea properly. Learning to scope a prototype carefully gives founders a clearer plan for what to build first and how to measure whether it works. The announcement did not give details on the specific methods or tools that Dr. Basit will cover, so the practical content of the four-hour session will be clearer once it takes place.
The session adds to the training activities that SEIC has been running for its second cohort, which have included sessions on unit economics and margins, and on data-driven sprinting and metric-driven iteration, as well as a visit by the founders to Scents N Stories. The programme operates with the involvement of SITD Government of Sindh, Sapphire Consulting Services and HUM Network, all of which were acknowledged in the announcement alongside IBA CEDIR.
