A delegation from Mitsubishi Corporation visited the National University of Sciences and Technology to learn more about the university’s work across technology, research and innovation. Dr Rizwan Riaz, Pro-Rector for Research, Innovation and Commercialization, welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of NUST’s key initiatives spanning these areas, setting the stage for a broader exploration of the university’s innovation ecosystem during the visit.
At the National Science and Technology Park, Engineer Amer Sheikh, Director of NSTP, and Usman Ali, Deputy Director of Projects, briefed the delegation on the park’s startup ecosystem, incubation programs, industry linkages and ongoing technology initiatives. This briefing gave the visiting delegation a detailed look at how NSTP has structured its support systems for early stage ventures, offering insight into the practical mechanisms through which the park connects academic research with commercial application.
The delegation then toured the SINES and CEMTECH buildings, where they met resident startups and small and medium enterprises and observed NUST’s ongoing work in artificial intelligence, research and broader technology development. The visit concluded at HATCH 8, NSTP’s flagship incubation and innovation center, giving the delegation a comprehensive view of the park’s full range of activities, from early stage ideation through to more mature startup support.
The engagement gave both sides an opportunity to exchange perspectives on emerging technologies and global innovation trends, with discussions touching on potential collaboration areas including joint research, technology commercialization, and connections between NSTP startups and Mitsubishi Corporation’s international business network. The visit reflects NUST’s continued effort to build stronger industry academia ties with major global corporations, while also opening new possibilities for deeper technology and innovation cooperation between Pakistan and Japan.
