The team organising the Karachi Grammar Entrepreneurship Summit has met Sheryar Taj, Secretary of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, and briefed him about the national level summit to be held from 22 to 24 October 2026. The summit brings together students and young entrepreneurs from across Pakistan, who compete in teams in activities that cover entrepreneurship, business ideas, marketing, investment, negotiation and solutions to organisational challenges. The winning teams go on to represent Pakistan in international competitions at global entrepreneurship summits.
During the meeting, Rafia Syed, Director General of the authority, briefed the organisers on PIXS, an initiative of the authority that aims to encourage and promote young IT startups. The two sides discussed ideas for collaboration between the authority and the summit, with the aim of supporting young entrepreneurs at the student level. Sheryar Taj appreciated the efforts of the organisers and assured them of the authority’s support for the initiative.
The summit is run by the Entrepreneurship Society of Karachi Grammar School and is in its fourth edition, with all three days taking place at the school’s College Section in Clifton, Karachi. Last year’s edition drew more than 1,000 delegates and was described as the second-largest entrepreneurship competition in South Asia, and it is endorsed by the Pakistan Business Council and the Federal Ministry of Commerce. Earlier editions have included modules named Idea Den, Corporate Law, Marketing Madness, Stock Simulation and Crisis at Work, in which teams solve realistic business problems before judges from industry.
The link with the trade authority adds a government body to a competition that has so far been driven by students and private-sector judges. The authority’s own programme for young IT startups gives the two sides a natural point of contact, since the summit’s winners are often school and college founders at the start of their journey. The meeting did not produce a signed agreement, and the form of the collaboration, such as support for the winning teams’ travel or exposure to the authority’s export programmes, has not yet been announced.
