National Science And Technology Park Signs Memorandum Of Understanding With Brazil Based Instituto Caldeira

Published on

Pakistan’s and Brazil’s innovation ecosystems have formally joined hands. The National Science and Technology Park at the National University of Sciences and Technology and Brazil’s Instituto Caldeira have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at expanding collaboration between the two countries in innovation, entrepreneurship and startup ecosystem development. The agreement links a leading Pakistani technology park with an established innovation institute in Brazil, creating a formal channel through which founders, mentors and companies on both sides can work together.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Engineer Amer Sheikh, Director of the National Science and Technology Park, and Carolina Cavalheiro, Director of Instituto Caldeira. Under the arrangement, the two institutions will drive knowledge exchange, including the exchange of mentors and trainers who can share experience with startups and teams in the other country. They will also work to create business connections between startups and companies, and to develop joint soft landing programs. Soft landing programs are designed to help a young company establish itself in a new market by providing local contacts, guidance and a base from which to begin operating, which makes them especially valuable for startups that want to look beyond their home country.

The scope of the agreement extends from shared events to cross border startup linkages. Joint events can bring founders and investors from Pakistan and Brazil into the same conversations, while direct linkages between startups can open the way to customers, suppliers and collaborators in markets that have rarely been connected to each other. For Pakistani startups, the agreement offers a route toward Latin America, a region that is not usually the first destination for founders looking to expand. For Brazilian companies, it provides a path into Pakistan’s technology sector and the wider region. Exchanges of mentors and trainers add a further benefit, since they allow practical lessons about building and scaling companies to travel in both directions.

The signing reflects a wider pattern of Pakistani innovation institutions seeking relationships outside their usual regional circles. By connecting the ecosystems of two countries with very different markets, the agreement gives founders on each side an opportunity to connect, learn and grow beyond their domestic networks. The National Science and Technology Park, which describes itself as the innovation powerhouse of Pakistan, now has a formal link with one of Brazil’s innovation institutions, and the coming months should show how quickly the planned exchanges, events and soft landing programs take shape.
