Voyage Freight Secures $1M Funding to Transform Pakistan’s Shipping Industry

Digital freight forwarding startup, Voyage Freight, has successfully secured over $1 million in a pre-seed funding round, aiming to revolutionize the international shipping landscape in Pakistan. The funding, a strategic milestone for Voyage, was led by Indus Valley Capital, reflecting a growing confidence in the startup’s vision to simplify the complexities of traditional global shipping.

Voyage Freight, in a press release, outlined its mission to transform the logistics industry for Pakistani exporters by offering a seamless, end-to-end global shipping solution through modern technology. The startup aims to streamline and enhance the export logistics process for Pakistan’s growing trade market.

Indus Valley Capital founder, Aatif Awan, emphasized the pressing issue of increasing exports in Pakistan and identified the outdated and opaque global shipping experience as a significant impediment. Awan expressed excitement about partnering with Voyage, stating that the startup’s vision of simplifying global freight resonated, particularly for new and smaller exporters.

Omar Mukhtar, co-founder of Voyage Freight and an alumnus of University College London and the London School of Economics, expressed gratitude for the support of investors who share the vision of digitizing and simplifying the export shipping process. Bilal Latif, with experience in logistics and operations in Pakistan’s diverse industrial sectors, also emphasized the significance of the funding in accelerating their mission.

The funding positions Voyage Freight to provide Pakistani exporters with a one-stop digital platform that manages logistics needs from origin to destination, promising transparency, visibility, and control. The platform consolidates all shipping operations onto a single dashboard, offering real-time visibility and control over cargo and ensuring a transparent, efficient, and cost-effective shipping experience.

Pakistan’s growing manufacturing sector holds export potential, but traditional freight forwarding processes face challenges such as lack of transparency and complex customs procedures, leading to inefficiency and increased costs. Voyage Freight’s digital solution aims to address these issues and contribute to tackling the current account deficit while supporting the country’s currency.

Omar Mukhtar highlighted the importance of efficient exporting in the current global economy and expressed the startup’s aim to democratize access to global markets for exporters of all sizes, from SMEs to large enterprises. Voyage Freight envisions becoming a key player in the logistics sector within the MENA Region, starting with a strong foundation in Pakistan.
