Why do so many promising startups fail, even with a great idea? Often it isn’t the product itself but the risks no one saw coming, from weak founder agreements and compliance gaps to unprotected IP, poor financial controls, or red flags that surface during investor due diligence. The Faculty of Science at Information Technology University, together with Compliance Experts and Corporate Plus, is addressing exactly this gap with Startup Failure Risks, a six-hour short training workshop scheduled across two afternoon sessions on October 7 and 14, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at ITU Barki Campus in Lahore.
The workshop is led by Muhammad Nuaman Ahmed, a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional, Certified Fraud Examiner, and holder of an LLM in Commercial Law, who brings more than 24 years of international experience in legal, compliance, governance and risk management to the training. His professional background spans the kind of specialized expertise that early-stage founders rarely have in-house, giving participants direct access to knowledge that would otherwise require hiring outside counsel or compliance consultants at a cost many startups cannot yet justify.
The training is structured around eight core modules: Legal Foundations, Governance, Compliance, Risk Management, Contracts and IP, Data, Cyber and AI, Finance and Fraud, and Investor Due Diligence. Through practical modules and a hands-on case study, participants will learn to identify legal, governance and financial risks before they escalate into a genuine crisis, giving the workshop a deliberately preventive focus rather than one centered on crisis response after problems have already surfaced.
The workshop is open to final-year students, aspiring entrepreneurs, startup founders, and business, law, finance and technology students, reflecting an intent to reach people at different points in their entrepreneurial journey, from those still studying to founders already running a live venture. Interested participants can register ahead of the sessions, with the training offering a structured, six-hour grounding in the kinds of institutional and legal risks that often determine whether a startup survives its first few years.
