Karachi Startup Summit: Accelerating Innovation with Accelerate Prosperity Sarmayacar

Karachi witnessed a collaborative effort between Accelerate Prosperity (AP), an Aga Khan Development Network initiative, and Sarmayacar, a leading venture capital firm, in organizing the Startup Summit at NASTP over the weekend. The summit brought together investors, entrepreneurs, and ecosystem enablers, fostering collaboration and innovation within Pakistan’s startup landscape.

The Startup Summit focused on key aspects of the startup ecosystem, emphasizing climate initiatives and showcasing investment opportunities for innovative ventures. AP and Sarmayacar share a commitment to expanding entrepreneurship beyond major cities. Rohma Labeeb, Country Director at Accelerate Prosperity Pakistan, expressed anticipation for collaborative efforts in building a robust entrepreneurship ecosystem contributing significantly to national development.

Amir Paracha, CEO of Unilever Pakistan, delivered a keynote speech, providing practical insights on leadership essentials and drawing from Unilever’s leadership philosophy. He highlighted fundamental qualities crucial for startups striving for a positive impact, emphasizing ethical practices and long-term sustainability through real-life examples from his leadership journey.

The summit also featured a panel discussion on “Riding the Green Wave: Seizing Opportunities in Climate Finance.” Industry experts, including Aman Nasir (Partner, Sarmayacar), Nadia Rehman (Member, Planning Commission of Pakistan), Ahmed Ammar Yasser (Chief of Party, PFAN), and Sarah Qureshi (CEO, Aero Engine Craft), explored challenges in climate finance and discussed steps for investors to balance financial returns with long-term environmental benefits.
