NIC Hyderabad Signs MoU with Mehran University of Engineering and Technology to Deepen Academia-Startup Ties

Published on

NIC Hyderabad hosted Dr. Sheeraz Ahmed Memon, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, along with members of the MUET team, for the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions. The agreement formalises what both sides described as the beginning of a structured, long-term collaboration aimed at building stronger bridges between university talent and the startup ecosystem.

As part of the engagement, NIC Hyderabad extended its faculty and institutional resources to support the development of entrepreneurship educators across academic disciplines, while also creating pathways for student and faculty-led startups to operate within a more entrepreneurially oriented university environment. Dr. Adnan Ashraf led key conversations on deepening the collaboration and conveyed the support of Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali, Vice Chancellor of MUET, for continued engagement between the two institutions going forward.

Both sides agreed on a concrete plan of engagement that includes joint activities, final year project roadshows, talent showcases, and structured connections between founders, students, and investors. The intent is to move beyond the kind of one-off interactions that have historically defined university-incubator relationships in Pakistan, toward something more sustained and outcome-driven.

For NIC Hyderabad, the partnership with MUET represents a deliberate effort to embed the incubator more deeply within the academic pipeline — treating the university not merely as a source of potential applicants but as an active participant in shaping how entrepreneurship is taught, practised, and supported at the institutional level.
