NIC Islamabad Investor Readiness Workshop Day 2 | Due Diligence Session for Startups 2026

National Incubation Center Islamabad held the second day of its Investor Readiness Workshop, dedicating the session to one of the most consequential yet least publicly discussed phases of the fundraising process — due diligence. The session was led by Haseeb Shaikh, who walked participating founders through the mechanics of what actually takes place once an investor has expressed interest in a startup.

The workshop covered the framework and process of due diligence in detail, giving founders a structured understanding of the stages that follow an initial expression of investor interest. A central focus of the session was the data room — the organised repository of financial, legal, and operational documents that investors request and review before committing capital. Founders were taught how to structure and present these documents effectively, an area where many early-stage teams are underprepared despite its significant bearing on how a deal ultimately progresses. Beyond the mechanics, the session addressed the qualitative dimensions of investor scrutiny, exploring what investors are genuinely looking for as they assess a company during the due diligence phase. This includes not only the strength of the business model and financial projections but also the quality of the founding team, the clarity of the company’s legal structure, and the coherence of its growth narrative.

The session formed part of a broader Investor Readiness programme being run at National Incubation Center Islamabad, which is supported by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and Ignite — National Technology Fund. The workshop series is designed to prepare cohort startups not merely to attract investor attention but to navigate the full investment process with confidence and competence once that attention has been secured. With the due diligence session now complete, participating startups are understood to be preparing for the next phase of the programme — an Investor Summit — where they will have the opportunity to put their newly sharpened readiness to practical use in front of an active investment audience.
