NIC Karachi, in partnership with PAFLA – Pakistan Freelancers Association, recently hosted “From Freelancer to Founder 4.0,” a workshop aimed at helping freelancers transition from independent work to scalable startup ownership. The full-day event provided attendees with actionable insights on pitching to investors, scaling service-based businesses, and establishing sustainable agencies. The workshop reflected NIC Karachi’s ongoing commitment to empowering freelancers with the tools, strategies, and networks necessary to grow their ideas into thriving businesses.
The workshop featured two highly practical sessions led by industry experts. Aurangzaib Alamgir, Founder and CEO of Porter Pakistan, guided participants on “How to Pitch Your Solution,” breaking down the key elements investors seek and demonstrating how to communicate value clearly and confidently. His session highlighted real-world examples and emphasized the importance of framing solutions in a way that resonates with investors, ensuring that participants left with actionable strategies for presenting their ideas effectively.
Hassan Bin Liaquat, a top-rated Upwork freelancer, video editor, and Upwork trainer, led a session titled “How to Go from Freelancer to Agency Owner.” Drawing from his personal experience scaling from solo freelance work to building a full-fledged service agency, Hassan offered practical guidance on team building, client management, and transitioning from project-based work to recurring, sustainable business operations. Participants gained insights into structuring teams, delegating responsibilities, and establishing processes that enable consistent growth while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.
Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to engage directly with trainers, ask questions, and receive tailored feedback on their projects. The workshop’s interactive approach encouraged peer learning and allowed freelancers to learn not only from the trainers’ expertise but also from the experiences of fellow participants navigating similar challenges. The sessions emphasized a hands-on, actionable framework, ensuring that attendees could immediately apply the lessons to their freelance careers and budding startups.
