NICAT Hosts LAB X Autonomous Air Systems Bootcamp on Drone Technology

Published on

NICAT is set to host LAB X, Autonomous Air Systems Bootcamp, a two day event scheduled for the thirty first of August and the first of September, twenty twenty six, at NICAT in Rawalpindi. The bootcamp is framed around the idea that the future of air power is autonomous, covering a range of topics spanning artificial intelligence, drone swarms, aviation, disaster response, regulatory control, and the future of national security.

The two day format allows for a more immersive exploration of these interconnected topics compared to a single session event, giving participants extended exposure to the technical and strategic dimensions of autonomous air systems. The bootcamp’s combination of technical subjects such as AI and drone swarms alongside policy oriented topics such as regulatory control and national security reflects the multidisciplinary nature of autonomous aviation technology, which sits at the intersection of engineering, defence strategy, and civil regulation.

The inclusion of disaster response as a covered topic points to the dual use potential of autonomous air systems, where technology developed for defence or aviation applications can also serve civilian purposes such as emergency response and humanitarian operations. This framing reflects a broader pattern within NICAT’s programming, where dual use technology categories are often addressed alongside more explicitly defence focused content.

NICAT’s continued focus on aerospace, aviation, and deep tech through events such as LAB X reinforces its positioning as a specialised incubation centre within Pakistan’s broader startup ecosystem, distinct from more general purpose incubators that cover a wider range of industries. The bootcamp format, combining structured learning with the two day intensive setting, suggests an event designed for participants seeking deeper technical engagement rather than a brief introductory overview.

The event is supported by Ignite National Technology Fund, Ministry Of IT and Telecommunication, NETSOL Technologies, National Aerospace Science and Technology Park, Air University, and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Kamra, reflecting the institutional network tied to NICAT’s operations. Those interested in attending LAB X can register through the link shared as part of the announcement at https://lnkd.in/dWzNwtT3, with the bootcamp adding to NICAT’s continued programming aimed at building specialised knowledge and community around autonomous air systems within Pakistan’s aerospace and defence technology ecosystem.
