Paklaunch is set to host an exclusive online session featuring investor and entrepreneur Ali Moiz to mark the launch of his new book 3 Startups, 40 Pivots. The virtual event will take place on March 24 and will include a fireside conversation focused on the realities of building venture-backed startups, as well as lessons drawn from Moiz’s personal experience as both a founder and an investor. The discussion is expected to bring together founders, investors, and members of the startup ecosystem for an interactive exchange on the challenges and strategies involved in building and scaling startups. Scheduled for 9:00 AM US Pacific Time and 9:00 PM Pakistan Time, the session will be held online through Zoom and is open to participants across the global Paklaunch community.
Ali Moiz is widely recognized as one of the most active early-stage investors and ecosystem supporters working with founders around the world. Over the past five years, he has invested in more than 200 startups across various sectors while also backing around 20 venture capital funds. Through these investments and mentorship efforts, he has played a role in supporting more than 3,000 founders in their fundraising journeys, helping them connect with capital and resources needed to build scalable companies. His investment portfolio includes participation in five unicorn companies, reflecting his active presence in the global venture capital ecosystem and his continued engagement with early-stage founders navigating competitive markets.
Before transitioning into venture investing, Moiz built his reputation as a startup founder. His entrepreneurial journey included launching and scaling multiple venture-backed startups, navigating the uncertainties that typically accompany early-stage companies. Among his most notable achievements was the successful exit of Streamlabs, which was acquired by Logitech in a deal valued at $170 million. The acquisition positioned Streamlabs as a major player in the live-streaming tools space and highlighted Moiz’s ability to build products that address emerging market needs while attracting significant industry attention. His experience as a founder, combined with his later role as an investor, provides him with a unique perspective on the operational and strategic realities of startup building.
His new book 3 Startups, 40 Pivots reflects that experience by presenting an honest account of the journey behind building venture-backed companies. Rather than focusing only on successful outcomes, the book explores the challenges, failures, and strategic pivots that shaped his entrepreneurial path. Through detailed stories and lessons drawn from real situations, Moiz discusses how founders often need to adapt repeatedly in response to market shifts, product feedback, and operational constraints. The book offers insight into how persistence, experimentation, and calculated risk-taking contribute to long-term growth, providing readers with a transparent look at the unpredictable nature of entrepreneurship.
The upcoming Paklaunch session will revolve around these themes, with Moiz sharing practical insights from the book and discussing broader topics such as startup growth, fundraising dynamics, and the evolving venture capital landscape. Founders participating in the discussion are expected to gain insights into navigating uncertainty, making strategic pivots, and building companies capable of attracting investor interest. By combining the book launch with a fireside conversation, the event aims to create a platform where members of the startup ecosystem can engage with one of the more experienced voices in venture investing while exploring the lessons captured in 3 Startups, 40 Pivots.
