NIC Karachi recently hosted an intensive cybersecurity session focused on penetration testing to help startups strengthen their digital defenses and build more resilient tech products. The session, held on 17th February 2026, provided founders with hands-on experience in identifying potential vulnerabilities and understanding continuous assessment and remediation techniques.
Led by cybersecurity professionals Zeeshan Ali, Manager of Information Security at House of Habib, and Konain Sohail, Assistant Manager at the same firm, the workshop emphasized practical exercises that went beyond theoretical concepts. Participants engaged with industry-standard penetration testing tools and techniques, learning how to assess their digital assets for weaknesses and implement strategies to enhance security posture.
Founders learned how to systematically uncover vulnerabilities within their applications and infrastructure, gaining a deeper appreciation for the iterative nature of cybersecurity practices. By working through real scenarios and applying testing frameworks, startups were able to better understand how to proactively manage risk, build secure systems, and prepare for potential threats.
The session underscored the importance of integrating security considerations early in product development, especially as technology ventures scale and attract broader user bases. In a landscape where cyber threats are constantly evolving, equipping founders with practical cybersecurity skills is increasingly vital for both user trust and long-term business sustainability.
Participants also benefited from interaction with industry practitioners, gaining insights into continuous monitoring, remediation best practices, and strategic approaches to secure digital solutions. The workshop’s focus on hands-on learning ensured that founders could immediately apply lessons to their ventures, reinforcing the role of cybersecurity as a core component of startup success rather than an afterthought.
By hosting sector-specific, expert-led initiatives like this, NIC Karachi continues to support the growth of Pakistan’s technology ecosystem, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application. The center’s efforts reflect its commitment to empowering founders with the skills needed to build secure, compliant, and scalable products that can compete on both local and global stages.
