The TourX acceleration program has officially launched to support the development and scaling of sustainable tourism initiatives across Tajikistan. Designed to strengthen the national tourism ecosystem, the program brings together 22 projects representing a wide cross-section of the industry, including tour operators, guesthouse owners, community-based tourism initiatives, and early-stage startups operating at idea, launch, and growth stages. The diversity of the cohort reflects a structured effort to build resilience and competitiveness across multiple layers of the tourism value chain.
The program commenced with a three-day intensive bootcamp in Dushanbe, where participants engaged in hands-on sessions aimed at refining their tourism products and strengthening their operational foundations. Founders and operators worked on market analysis, service quality enhancement, sustainability integration, and promotion strategy development. The bootcamp format emphasized practical application, allowing participants to assess gaps in their offerings while aligning their services with evolving traveler expectations and international standards. The structured environment enabled cross-learning between established operators and early-stage entrepreneurs, encouraging knowledge exchange across experience levels.
Following the bootcamp, the program transitions into an eight-week phase of structured mentorship, practical workshops, and tailored advisory support. This phase is designed to help participants strengthen operational efficiency, improve market positioning, and prepare for scaling opportunities. By combining technical guidance with hands-on business refinement, TourX aims to ensure that tourism ventures are not only market-ready but capable of sustainable growth. The mentorship component focuses on building long-term capacity rather than short-term adjustments, reinforcing strategic planning, financial management, and customer engagement practices.
Sustainability remains central to the program’s framework. Participants are guided on integrating environmentally responsible practices into their operations, improving resource management, and aligning their services with global sustainability benchmarks. By embedding these standards early in the growth cycle, TourX seeks to support tourism models that balance economic opportunity with environmental preservation and community benefit. Community-based tourism initiatives within the cohort play a critical role in this approach, connecting local populations to economic activity while preserving cultural and natural assets.
The program is implemented with financial support from the Swiss Government and Aga Khan Foundation. Their backing enables structured capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening Tajikistan’s tourism sector through enterprise development. The collaboration reflects broader efforts to support small and growing businesses that contribute to national economic diversification and regional development.
By convening operators from different regions and stages of growth, TourX contributes to a more coordinated tourism ecosystem nationwide. The program structure, combining intensive in-person training with extended mentorship, signals a focus on long-term sectoral development rather than isolated interventions. As the cohort progresses through its eight-week journey, the emphasis remains on building competitive, resilient, and sustainable tourism enterprises capable of contributing meaningfully to Tajikistan’s broader economic landscape.
