SEIC has clarified that its incubation support extends well beyond technology startups, positioning itself as a programme that funds ideas that solve real problems regardless of whether those solutions involve technology at all. According to the organisation, a product, a service, or a process can all qualify for support as long as it addresses something genuinely real, broadening the scope of who might consider applying to the incubator’s programme.
This messaging distinguishes SEIC from many incubators that focus primarily or exclusively on technology driven ventures, instead positioning the organisation as sector agnostic in its evaluation criteria. By explicitly stating that non-tech ideas belong at SEIC just as much as tech ones, the organisation is signalling to a potentially wider pool of applicants, including those working on traditional service businesses, process innovations, or physical products that may not involve significant technical development.
SEIC’s framing suggests the incubator has already backed startups across a range of sectors, with the organisation describing itself as having worked with entrepreneurs across differing categories of business as part of its existing portfolio. This diversity reflects an incubation model built around problem solving broadly, rather than one narrowly focused on validating and scaling purely digital or technology based solutions.
The messaging comes as SEIC continues accepting applications for its second cohort, with the organisation encouraging interested applicants to consider whether their idea, regardless of its technical complexity, might fit within the incubator’s scope. This inclusive positioning could be particularly relevant for entrepreneurs in Sindh working on ideas tied to traditional industries, services, or processes who might not have previously considered themselves eligible for startup incubation support given the common assumption that such programmes cater primarily to technology ventures.
Those interested in applying to Cohort 2 can do so through www.seic.ac.pk/register, with SEIC’s continued outreach reflecting its broader effort to build a more diverse pipeline of applicants across Sindh, extending its incubation support to any idea capable of solving a genuine problem, whether or not that solution involves technology.
