Shell Pakistan Limited hosted the culminating event of the 10th Tameer Awards 2023 at Shell House to acknowledge and celebrate the most promising young entrepreneurs in Pakistan.
With over 400 applications received this year, the awards program shortlisted 30 finalists across six distinct categories. The finale brought together business leaders, industry professionals, and academia, where the finalists presented their pitches to a panel of experts tasked with selecting winners and runners-up in each category.
During the event, a panel of distinguished leaders engaged in insightful discussions on innovation and entrepreneurship, contributing to the growth of the startup ecosystem. Waqar Siddiqui, Chief Executive & Managing Director of Shell Pakistan Limited, expressed pride in witnessing young talent making significant strides in diverse areas and addressing the country’s challenges with innovative solutions. He emphasized Shell’s commitment to investing in youth and fostering enterprise development through the flagship program, Shell Tameer, for a brighter future in Pakistan.
The grand winners of the 10th Tameer Awards 2023 were recognized in various categories:
- Algaverse (Circular Economy): Nayab Raza – A microalgae-based biofertilizer manufacturer addressing food insecurity, energy crises, and climate change impact on farmers’ income.
- She Guard (Empowering Women): Mehreen Raza – Creator of biodegradable, herbal-treated sanitary products promoting women’s reproductive and menstrual hygiene while combating climate change.
- Inlights (Transport & Mobility): Muhammed Ahmed – Develops an Intelligent Transportation System utilizing Computer Vision & AI to optimize traffic signals and reduce congestion.
- Creative 3D Pvt Limited (Technology Innovation): Bilal Afridi – Local manufacturing of 3D printers and offering 3D printing services for innovative solutions in various industries.
- HaloPlast (Clean Energy Solutions): Shemir Ahmed – Designs biodegradable plastic bags using renewable energy sources and biopolymers to replace conventional plastics.
- Bendcrete Constructions (Bright Ideas): Touqeer Ahmed – Provides consultancy services for bendable concrete, offering a more efficient, safe, and cost-effective alternative.
The runners-up in various categories included Green Black Agri Solutions, Bizb Store, Mehran Stairlift, Agribot, Mycohues, and Ecopulp Pakistan.
Since its inception, Shell Tameer has played a pivotal role in strengthening local economies by fostering entrepreneurship. The program has engaged a million youth, and Pakistani entrepreneurs have received international trade grants and global recognition through the Shell ‘Top Ten Innovators Awards.’
